ABOUT US

Pour yourself a glass of Manifesto! and picture this:

There are two farmers walking the land in the Suisun Valley of Northern California, an area contiguous with a region known for producing brilliant wines. This is land that coats their tractors and their family histories. One farmer strolls along a gently sloped field, his boots pick up cobble and clay as he walks. He's satisfied that the vines growing on this well-drained soil look vibrant. He heads to a steeper, more rugged part of the farm to check on those vines. It's slightly slower going on this rocky, alluvial fan, and now a light dusting of reddish-brown soil gathers on his pant legs. He thinks this organic farming he once mocked is working out pretty nicely. Not far away, the other farmer looks over a flawlessly planned, grown and tended canopy of vines. This vineyard is at a slightly lower elevation than the others, so when he bends over and scoops a handful of well-manicured soil he sees more clay. And though this organically farmed piece of land is perfectly cared for, he thinks a new technique he just read about might make it better still. Later, both men will return to houses that sit on the same land they tend. They'll eat dinner with their families and consider intimately the cycle to which they, and their ancestors, belong.

Can you taste it?
